Captain’s Report:

Report from the club match committee –

Request for the WoG to include a 20min space at the end of the field to stop social players complaining about slow play – not supported, can include a tab in MiClub that advises of a large competition in front.

MiClub (web based system) starts on 6th May with online bookings on 30th April

MiClub/MiScore is an app based system – prefer all players to use the app. Printed card results must be entered manually.

ANZAC Day holiday set for Monday 27th – the Club will run a medley competition

Matchplay competition will require entry on a nomination form available on the Vets notice board. The best 16 players will contest the event. The last competition day will include positions for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th (ie a group of 4 players)

WOG – Ian reported the field is full with around 14 players on the wait list.

Dave raised the need for local rules for mud on the ball and bare patches on the fairway. Barry advised that these will be discussed at the club’s match committee.

Denis advised that the volunteer day will be on 21st April – normally every second Tuesday of the month.

WoG costing were discussed with the agreement that final costs will be decided after John and Ian have attended and evaluated the Hawks Nest WoG on the first week of February.

The ladies committee has been in discussion with Shaun and Brian regarding the green fees for their annual competitions. They will be charged $25 green fees.

Negotiation with Shaun and Brian regarding green fees for the WoG and Open Day to be organised by Denis.

Ian provided 12 designs for the new Vets shirts. The committee unanimously chose the preferred design. Ian to organise 6 samples 2xM, 2xL and 2 Ladies sizes.

Barry looked at stats in team events – result: Vote passed that 4 person and 3 person team events eg Ambrose – each player to hit minimum of 4 drives – this is to stop big hitters having an advantage.

Topic of how many players to form a Monday competition – vote taken – resolution: 20 players are needed to form a competition

Inclement weather conditions- it was decided if the player decides to abandon play that is his/her decision so no refund.

Extreme weather condition: follow the clubs policy

Gary spoke about Vets Open Day on 2nd June – close of entries 16th May – if cancelled owing to inclement weather/no carts the Open Day will not be rescheduled

The cost of the new computer in the back room will be shared by Veterans/Ladies Golf (pending approval at next ladies meeting) approximate cost $1200 total.

Our next monthly medal day will be help on Monday 26th May – top 16 qualify for match play championships – 1st round Monday 9th June

Our Open Day on 3rd June was cancelled owing to course conditions and alternate date of 14th October declined due to green renovations in early October.

Gary spoke to club match committee about raking foot marks etc in bunkers before playing ball but ruling was no just have to cop it.

Gary to raise subject of positioning of rakes by staff before days play with Brian Cox.

Looking to combat slow play by extending tee times to 8 minutes instead of 7.

Ian spoke about WOG computer program has lost historic data and requires an upgrade of $150 to restore it. Decision has been made to leave it as is and investigate a new system for next year’s WOG.

Captain Report:

Yearly vets games calendar submitted to proshop.

Yearly games are 50% stroke or single stableford, 50% team games.

Gary noted there are 51 entries for the Week of Golf to date.

More visitors are joining the Monday competition at guest rate of $35.

Division 2 matchplay has been cancelled due to inability to get relevant players together.

Propose to have a qualifying round to deliver 32 players with follow up games to be set by the match committee.

Week of Golf – Elders Real Estate has agreed to $500 sponsorship for Hole-in-One Challenge. Allan advised that Elders sponsorship will be for all of July also.

Allan advised he has sponsors up until August – will only look for others if necessary.

Gary advised that we are still waiting for a confirmation letter from Gary Thatcher regarding the fees for the Open Day, Week of Golf and Mt Warning Classic.

Bob enquired about the use of the Simple Golf app. John said that 23% of Vets used it last Monday and that the proshop is trialling the app during February.

Tony highlighted that the index for the 9th hole is incorrect (will follow up with proshop). Also raised the issue of the Club’s Honour Board. Ian advised that a contractor has been employed to “build” it. Gary said that the Club was having trouble finding some of the historical records.
